Indigo is one of the main dye colors used in the traditional clothing of Vietnam’s ethnic minority communities. This natural dye is extracted in various ways by mountain peoples like the Tay, Dao, Hmong, and Thai, using unique techniques and secrets passed down through generations. The process of preparing the dye and the dyeing techniques all require meticulous skill and dexterity, a task typically handled by the women of the family.

The Hmong people are a standout ethnic group with particularly remarkable fabric weaving and indigo dyeing techniques. Hmong women are especially adept at drawing intricate patterns with beeswax before dyeing the fabric. These hand-drawn motifs vividly express their personality, aesthetics, emotions, and skill, creating unique and treasured works of art passed down through generations. During our trip to Ha Giang, A Bản was honored to visit and experience the Lùng Tám cooperative, where the community’s handicrafts are preserved and developed every day. Bringing back these beautiful, picturesque fabrics from that visit, we felt a mix of excitement and pride. We know that on our journey to spread and develop ethnic culture, A Bản is accompanied and inspired by so much beauty and joy, carrying forward these precious cultural traditions.

We hope to see you one day at A Bản to admire and immerse yourself in our space, and we look forward to sharing with you a bit of the vibrant atmosphere of the highlands.

Live in the mountains, stay with the village and bask in the clouds.

The 3rd floor of A Ban has the theme “Dive into the clouds” – is a VIP room area with 4 rooms named after the four great peaks of the mountain, which represents 4 different landscape areas: Khau Pha, Pha Din, O Quy Ho and Ma Pi Leng.

As soon as you step to the stairs, each cloud hovers, stretches and covers the ceiling, which makes you feel like you are standing on a fresh high mountain. The spiral shape represents the uncertain air currents, the clear but blurry of the morning dew or highland clouds. Then when you explore each room, you will find something new and unique but also very familiar with each landscape at the high pass.

Sapa is the only place in Vietnam where they can catch salmon with sweet and firm tender pink flesh, and low in fat. It is crafted from fresh Sapa salmon, coated with salt and herbs for 7 hours, then smoked using Shan Tuyet tea and local herbs.

When served, the fish is placed on a bed of salt, tea leaves, cinnamon, star anise, lemongrass, and various herbs, then infused with aromatic rice wine right at the table. The fragrance from the herbs and wine blends harmoniously with the rich, juicy salmon. Once cooked, the fish is skinned, sliced, and served tableside with fresh lemon and a special chẩm chéo dipping sauce.
